TOTS® and MHT

چکیده
To readers with a background in conventional trackers, the former may appear particularly disadvantageous in multi-target environments, and the latter is in complete contrast to conventional approaches such as Global Nearest Neighbours (GNN) or Joint Probabilistic Data Association (JPDA). However, it is the case that the sensor fusion/tracking results obtainable from TOTS are exceptionally and consistently good. This paper examines some of the reasons for this, particularly within the context of MHT.

The effects of emotion on tip-of-the-tongue states.
Tip-of-the-tongue states (TOTs) are judgments of the likelihood of imminent retrieval for items currently not recalled. In the present study, the relation of emotion to the experience of TOTs is explored. Emotion-inducing questions (e.g., "What is the term for ritual suicide in Japan?") were embedded among neutral questions (e.g., "What is the capital of Denmark?"). Participants attempted to re...
متن کاملDevelopment of rapid temporal processing and its impact on literacy skills in primary school children.
In a longitudinal study, auditory and visual temporal order thresholds (TOTs) were investigated in primary school children (N = 236; mean age at first data point = 6;7) at the beginning of Grade 1 and the end of Grade 2 to test whether rapid temporal processing abilities predict reading and spelling at the end of Grades 1 and 2. Auditory and visual TOTs differed but showed comparable developmen...
متن کاملTip-of-the-tongue states as metacognition
The tip-of-the-tongue state (henceforth, TOT) is typically defined as the feeling that a known word will be recalled even though it is not accessible immediately. Others have defined TOTs as simply the state of temporary inaccessibility (cognitive state) rather than the feeling of temporary inaccessibility (metacognitive experience). I argue that TOTs are metacognitive experiences rather than c...
متن کاملSparkling at the end of the tongue: the etiology of tip-of-the-tongue phenomenology.
The tip-of-the-tongue experience (TOT) is the phenomenological experience that a currently inaccessible word is stored in memory and will be retrieved. TOTs appear to be a universal experience that occurs frequently in everyday life, making the TOT an ideal case study in human phenomenology. This paper considers TOTs in light of Tulving's (1989) challenge to the doctrine of concordance, which i...
متن کامل“Blockers” do not block recall during tip-of-the-tongue states
Tip-of-the-Tongue experiences (TOTs) are often accompanied by incorrect answers (blockers) that come to mind persistently and seem to block recall. According to the blocking hypothesis, blockers cause retrieval difficulty during TOTs. We predicted that delay would allow participants to forget their blockers, and thereby enhance TOT resolution. In Experiment 1 participants were asked trivia ques...
